10 Things Rick Ross Taught Us With Mastermind
Many people lauded Drake for his album rollout process in 2013. Whereas everyone and their mother wife was trying to come up with a new strategy for releasing an album, Drake just released songs, throughout the year, and eventually put them all on his album. Ross took this to a new level by releasing a number of songs that could easily have been on Mastermind (“oyster perpetual”, “No Games”, “Devil is A Lie”, “War Ready”) but decided to only keep the ones that work. Some might argue this is similar to what happened in 2011 with “You The Boss” ft Nicki Minaj & “I love My Bitches” not being on God Forgives I Don’t, but in this case it had less to do with tracks not working or being good enough, no one seems to feel any kind of way about having all these new songs.
