Gwendoline Christie plays Brienne.
Q: Jaime Lannister is a controversial character. Do you root for him?
Yeah I love that character, don’t you? He’s is a controversial character, but that’s part of why we all love him so much. Is that he’s just so complex and … just when you think you know who that character is and you think that you dislike him and that he’s arrogant and he’s murdered a child, etcetera, suddenly this moment occurs so brilliantly played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, where our perceptions of this man are turned on their head and what’s not to love about a character like that?
Q: Do you consider yourself a feminist?
To me, I am no expert, I’m just an actor but to me what feminism means is equality between men and women and I can’t see anything wrong with that.
Q: Some people have qualms about how women are portrayed. Can you reflect on that?
What I love about Game of Thrones and about the writing of George RR Martin is that it represents our world, it represents our lives as human and our human condition. And so it contains war, violence, intrigue, treachery, birth, death, why not sex?
