Stephen McKinley Henderson plays Bobo in the show.
Tell us about your character.
I play a character who’s name is Bobo. He’s a friend of the principle character and they go in together on a deal. All their hopes are tied to this liquor store.and getting a license from the state but they are deceived. A character who loses all his life savings but he’s the one who has to come and deliver the bad news to the Younger family.
How did you get involved with the show?
Well, I was asked by the director Kenny Leon. He gave me a call and said there is this wonderful cameo, one scene, and would I be willing to do it and I said of course I would … I was glad to do it.
You were on stage with Denzel in “Fences” in 2010. What was it like collaborating with him again?
Working with Denzel was a joy. He’s such a generous giving person and his humanity comes through in everything he does and he’s fun to be around. He’s just a great person.
