In the play one of the many things that happens is Lena Younger uses her husbands insurance money to put it down a payment on a house. Finally to have a house, something she wanted for quite a while but didn’t think she was going to get. She found a house that she really liked. She found a neighborhood that she really liked, which happened to be in a white neighborhood in which there were no black people. So I am from the Clybourne Park Improvement Association and I show up and I want to discuss this purchase with them.
What was it like working with Kenny Leon?
Normally direct. Lately, in the last 14 years or so I have been directing. I hope that I was for him what I want actor’s to be. I hope I was ready to go. I had a lot of trouble learning it I’m 49 and I’m not really actor, but I hope I was there in at least giving him something he could use. It was great. He has exquisite instincts.
