Skateboard almost missed out on all that happiness.

Pharrell‘s “Happy” is quite certainly the biggest song in the country, if not the world, and the story of its conception is pretty interesting. First, P took to Oprah‘s new sit down show, Oprah Prime, to talk about the creative pit he landed in that allowed him the openness to create such an anthem, then, a couple days ago, another detail was revealed. While sitting down with Howard Stern, Skateboard P admitted Cee-Lo was originally the person meant to sing “Happy”, but he passed on it, leaving the lane open for Pharrell to release the biggest hit of his career. You can watch the full interview below, in which he also divulged that the music he wrote for Justin Timberlake‘s Justified album were originally meant for Michael Jackson.
