Ouch.
Ma$e set himself up to have a pretty big year. Since making a surprise appearance at last year’s OVO Fest in Toronto, he’s been rumored to be in talks with Drake to sign to his OVO Sound label, releasing new music, confirming his new album (Now We Even), and making stellar guest appearances (2 Chainz‘ “Beautiful Pain”). Also, unfortunately, he’s also dealing with the train wreck that is his wife. To the point that Twyla Betha, Ma$e’s wife, has been banished from their church.
Twyla, who often preached at the church but has been in legal trouble before, was caught drunk driving with a blood alcohol level over twice the legal limit, and was forced to plead guilty in court. According to a TMZ, Mrs. Betha had previously referred to drunk driving as blasphemy while delivering sermon, and the church felt betrayed upon reports of her reckless behavior.
And, we’re told the church elders and parishioners think Twyla is a hypocrite because she preached that drunkenness is a sin … which she committed, so they’re down with the ban. Mase filed for divorce in January … we’re told the drunk driving incident was the last straw for him.
On the music side of things, we wish Ma$e all the best as he preps Now We Even.
