More bad news, if you can imagine that
Yesterday, Malaysia Airlines suffered its second tragedy of 2014, as Flight 17 was reportedly shot down over Ukraine. The crash claimed the lives of 280 passengers and 15 crew members–a devastating turn of events.
In another disastrous turn of events, news broke that aboard the doomed plane were some of “the best and brightest” doctors involved in the fight to find a cure for AIDS. Joep Lange was an avid researcher and former president of The International AIDS Society, and he was leading a group of approximately 100 doctors on a research quest.
Trevor Satten, a Canadian HIV researcher familiar with the work of the people on that plane, told ABC that researchers were getting close to a vaccine for HIV.
What if the cure for AIDS were on that plane? Really? We don’t know.
