Another win for Skateboard P!
Pharrell will officially join the short list of curators for 2K Sports’ NBA 2K series. Skateboard P has selected 27 track to be feature on the famed video game, and is only the third celebrity to do so behind Jay Z who was the executive producer for NBA 2K13 and LeBron James who chose the soundtrack for last years’ NBA 2K14.
P told the Associated Press that he aspired to create an “eclectic mix” of music for the soundtrack. The soundtrack will feature songs from Lauryn Hill, Public Enemy, Afrika Bambaataa & Soulsonic Force, Missy Elliot, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Black Keys, A Tribe Called Quest, One Public, The Rapture, Depeche Mode, Strafe, Lorde, and many more artist. Pharrell will also lend a few of his own tracks such as “Can I Have It Like That?”, “Hunter” and “How Does It Feel?” He told AP “It was fun to include songs that I have always loved, like Strafe’s ‘Set it Off’ or Tribe Called Quest’s ‘Scenario’.”
Alfie Brody, the vice president of marketing for 2K, told AP “Pharrell’s creative energy and background with the NBA — his performance at the All-Star Game for example — was part of our decision in partnering with him to shape a new entertainment experience in this year’s title.”
