Drake couldn’t make it to the VMAs and had to choose another venue to accept his award, luckily Weezy was there to help.
Unable to make it to the VMA’s on Sunday, Drake took the opportunity last night to accept the Best Hip-Hop Video award he won for “Hold On, We’re Going Home” on stage with Lil Wayne.
At the Boston stop on their Drake vs. Lil Wayne tour Weezy played the roll of presenter, introducing the winner as “that ni**a Drizzy Drake.” Drake then accepted his invisible award, saying “thanks Common”, alluding to the fact taht Common was the one who presented the award at the actual VMA’s. Drizzy covered all the usual bases, thanking God, his mom and Lil Wayne of course. He then ended the playful speech by giving a shout out to some of the people who have been criticizing him and what genre this song really falls into. Drizzy joked,
“I’d just like to say, I know this is a hip-hop award, and I know a lot of you are frustrated like, ‘this is not a hip-hop song.’ And you know what? You’re right; I tricked you all. Rappers, better luck next year.”
Julia wants to meet Weezy one day but also doesn’t because she would definitely be crying tears of joy and that’s not the cutest look. Follow her on Twitter – @jaybeetheworst
