Characterized by its luxurious aesthetic and flawless ode to detail, Meskita returned to conquer the runway at the Spring/Summer 2015 season of Mercedez-Benz Fashion Week, wrapping up the first night with an exhilarating touch of gold.
Inspired by the Egyptian Lioness, the collection showcased a captivating contrast between the modern woman’s warrior and goddess, a harmonious blend of power and femininity that was exhibited through every aspect of the show. The runway kicked-off with statement pieces in hand-pleated gold, and gracefully evolved into an array of looks that paired the flowy elegance of silk and chiffon, with the more structural nature of leather and weighted neoprene.
Reminiscent of a Saharan sunrise, the palette of pearly white and pastels, with touches of gold and other metallics, beautifully flaunted the collection’s mix of fascinating textures. Showcased prints represented the fertility of the Nile blossoms and deep shades of the desert. We particularly loved the flowy hand-pleated transparencies, laser-cut leather, and oversized structural accessories (leather harnesses, golden cuff belts, etc).
Additional accessories were kept simple in soft golden hues. Beauty and makeup featured straight hair in sleek half-ponytails, golden yellow eye-shadow, Egyptian-style black eyeliner, and two-toned gold nails. Nothing less than a climax, the models each re-appeared into a dim spotlight, one by one, until they all stood in unison as Meskita’s soldiers of light. “Wow!” seemed to spread like an echo among the audience, and we couldn’t have agreed more… this is definitely a designer to follow and we can’t wait to see what will be unveiled in her next collections!
