The models had sleek pulled back hair with 90’s spike headbands. The way it was styled gave it a new chic look. The collection was very relaxed. The pieces had a structured relaxed feeling – it was new kind of cool. Be on the lookout for draped miniskirts in jersey and metal hues. We saw 80’s elements mixed with a space theme. It was super futuristic. Watch out for metallics and ladies cropped tops are still in! Barbara Bui turned the Parisian elegance into a modern collection that is wearable for every type of woman.

The Source Magazine was invited the cover the beauty look backstage by MAC Cosmetics, where we spoke with lead make up artist Victor Cembellin exclusively:

It is a suggestion of a little  bit of India, maybe that is where the gold comes into play. She just wanted the girls to look confident, and just like young, girls who look after and treat themselves well. So just healthy beautiful with this little shot of gold.

As far as how we accomplished it, it was very interesting. We used a MAC product called rose gold pigment; it is literally like a metal pigment. It is beautiful!

We wet it and essentially what that does is that it really sort of flattens out the metal so that it looks like metal eye lids. To amplify that effect, we used lash mixing medium which is a Pro only item for MAC. We added that in the center it is almost like an adhesive.

We then used a brow set from MAC, it is like a medium brown. We weaned the lashes not to look like lashes but have them look groomed. So we put a little bit in the brow and a little bit in the lashes and then that just brings the health and the groom a bit. Put together but not overly done.

Nothing on the lip really, we used a matte lip balm. There was a skin story being told here, so we used two products called natural radiance. It is from our primer series.  We used pearl cream colored base, a little bit of improper copper and a shot of natural radiance. We mixed all of these together and it was sort of swapped into the skin.

Products used:

Skin: natural as possible/spot conceal

Pearl & Improper copper – mixed with Natural Radiance (Radiant yellow) applied with #132 to contour & highlight cheekbones & temple. ( in C shape) Amplify effect (with pearl & natural radiance mixture) on high cheekbones.

Cheek: Stay By Me Pro Long wear Blush added to enhance cheek color.

Eye: Blot lids with Blot film first. Rose gold Metal pigment (mixed with water). Trace eyelid shape and fill in, not above lid. Use lash mixing med in center of lid to adhere a small piece of gold leaf in center.

Brow: clear and tinted brow set to groom (Beguile) fill in holes if necessary

Lashes: Curls with full lash curler apply Beguile Brow Set to lightly groom… (but not feel like a lash)

Lip: Prep & prime lip ( aka matte balm)

Inspiration: a suggestion of India…confident girls, young, who treat themselves well.
