Derek Jeter‘s final year as a pro baseball player has been celebrated all season long, and he’s been lauded by nearly every team, and every fan in every stadium he’s played in, but everyone knew the real farewell would come last night, when he took the field at Yankee Stadium for the last time in pinstripes. Everyone, from Jordan Brand to Uber has acknowledged the departure of The Captain, but there was no better fitting end result than what happened in the game’s final at-bat.

With the game tied at 5, a runner on second base and 1 out in the bottom of the 9th inning, Jeter walked up to the plate, and this happened.
