Great guest speakers and a very touchy subject make for one of #AWXI’s most engaging activations

Following the success of SOURCE360 this past September, The Source’s Chairman, L. Londell McMillan, Esq took to an Advertising Week XI panel to talk about the many different activations, showcases, panels, performances and more that make up SOURCE360, and how important he believes it is not only for the expansion of The Source’s brand, but for Hip-Hop culture. The panel also featured Spike DDM VP of Accounts Rihanna Bey and Roc Nation’s Chaka Pilgrim and Shahendra Ohneswere. The creative and business-minded executives talked about everything from the effect advertisers and investors have on music industry politics, and the initiatives marketing executives are now taking to “spice up” their promotional campaigns in an effort to keep the consumer engaged. The panel, which was dubbed “The Death Of The Music Industry,” also focused on whether or not artists are better off using their personal social media campaigns, and the internet’s viral power to commandeer their careers, as opposed to trusting record labels–signing to a major label is always a gamble–with their potential.
