It’s currently open season on Bill Belichick, Robert Kraft, and the entire New England Patriots organization, after an NFL investigation concluded that 11 of the 12 game balls the Pats were allotted in Sunday’s AFC Championship game against the Indianapolis Colts were under-inflated, a clear violation of league policy, and certainly not a coincidence. Since then, #DeflateGate has gripped the sports world, and even prompted one Colts player to ask the NFL on Twitter if they get to play the Championship game again, “or nah?”
In the meantime, it’s business as usual on the NFL schedule, and this Sunday, Andrew Luck, the losing quarterback in the Colts’ 45-7 loss to the Brady bunch, will take his immense talents to Arizona where he will star in the Pro Bowl. With just 3 days left until the game, naturally, the media blitz has begun, and this part of it found Andrew Luck at his locker, answering questions about, well, what else?
Luck: It’s sort of sucked out of you, you know, you do feel deflated…Aww shh…
Incredible. Luck was actually using “deflated” in a metaphorical context, to describe what it feels like to defeat the high-flying Broncos on the road and get smacked around by the Patriots in the same 7-day span, and managed to deliver probably the most perfect Patriots-related punchline anyone will hear all week.
