Really, they shot themselves
A three-year old boy shot both his father, Justin Reynolds, and his eight-months-pregnant mother by accident in an Albuquerque motel on Saturday. Thankfully, both parents are expected to be just fine.
According to reports, the boy was reaching for his mother’s iPod in her bag when he managed to get his hands on a loaded firearm (??), which was also in her purse. One shot was fired from the gun, hitting the father in the buttocks, exiting his hip, and striking Reynolds’ girlfriend–the toddler’s mother–in the shoulder. According to Mr. Reynolds:
All of a sudden we heard a gun go off and the next minute I realized my girlfriend was bleeding. Then I sat down and realized I was shot too.
Police say the parents could face charges of felony criminal negligence, and the children–the couple’s 2-year old daughter was also in the room–are currently in the custody of the state of New Mexico pending further investigation.
