After finding success on radio and online with his song “Sounds Good,” DMV bred rapper T.R.E. returns with his video for the song “My Homeboy’s Couch,” a concept record that’ll resonate with anybody who’s ever had to post up on a friend’s couch for a few days or longer. “My Homeboy’s Couch” is a refreshing break from the materialistic, egotistical rap that runs rampant today, where rappers are quick to tell you how broke you are, and stunt with things they don’t even have. T.R.E. takes rap back to its humble roots as the poetry of struggle and poverty, as he narrates the saga of a man just out jail with no place to stay, except his homeboy’s couch.
