Copenhagen has been rocked the last 24 hours, after the suspected gunman who attacked a free-speech debate and a Jewish synagogue is shot dead by Danish police
In the aftermath of the attacks in Paris last month, more terrorist attacks have hit the region. Police in Copenhagen have killed a man they believe was behind two deadly attacks in the Danish capital Saturday.
The head of Danish intelligence says investigators are working on the theory that the gunman could have been inspired by the recent Paris attacks. The attacks on the Charlie Hebdo Magazine, a kosher supermarket, and a policewoman claimed seventeen lives last month.
One person was killed and three police officers have been injured at a free speech debate in a cafe on Saturday. Attending the debate was Swedish cartoonist Lars Vilks and the French ambassador Francois Zimeray, who was also present during the attack. Vilks, is known for his drawing of the Prophet Mohammed with the body of a dog in 2007 and was attending the debate on Islam and free speech as the suspected gunmen who is believed to be Omar Abdel Hamid El-Hussein opened fire.
The meeting organized by Lars Vilks, “Art, Blasphemy, and Freedom of Expression”, was being held in the Krudttonden Cultural Center in northern Copenhagen, Denmark. The French ambassador François Zimeray had just finished speaking at the event as the shots were fired at around 14:30 GMT. Later,Zimeray confirmed in a tweet he was unharmed.
We do not know the motive for the alleged perpetrator’s actions, but we know that there are forces that want to hurt Denmark. They want to rebuke our freedom of speech.

Sadly, there is another related attack that occurred at Jewish synagogue Krystalgade in Copenhagen where Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt is shows her condolences.
A person who was shot in the head in an attack near the Copenhagen synagogue has died, but there was no word on whether the incident, in which two cops were also wounded, was related to another fatal shooting earlier in the day. Police surveillance shows that only one suspect is involved in both cases.
We feel certain now that it is a politically motivated attack, and thereby it is a terrorist attack.
