Last month, the world was outraged after the footage of at least 6 girls jumping 15-year old Ariana Taylor in a Brooklyn McDonald’s hit the internet. After further investigation, all 6 girls were found, but none of the girls have admitted guilt in the vicious brawl. However, as of this week, one suspect seems to have had a change of heart.
The 14-year old suspect, whose name has yet to be released because of her age, admitted her guilt while in family court Monday. According to the NY Daily News, the teen admitted that not only was she in the video, but she partook in actions that directly caused Taylor’s injuries.
I punched, dragged, and kicked the victim.
The teen, who was already on probation for a previous incident, will most likely be moved from a juvenile jail to a facility run by Child Protective Services, and is likely to spend a year there. She was caught in Atlanta trying to flee to Jamaica with her mother. Rather than being handed down a probation sentence, much like her accomplice, because of her previous case, the 14-year old suspect was sent to the CPS group home.
The brawl’s ringleader, Aniah Ferguson, and several other girls over the age of 16 will be tried as adults in Supreme Court.
