Two years ago, Davion Only stood in front of a Florida church and asked for someone to adopt him. He captured the hearts of many people during his earnest search for a new family, and in April of 2014, his dreams came true when a Ohio minister and his wife decided to adopt him. His dream became a nightmare however, after Only got into a fight with one of the minister’s other children. The couple decided to send the teen back into foster care.
Only returned to foster care depressed, and convinced that he would never get another chance. Well, that would soon change. Only’s caseworker, Connie Going, decided that after careful consideration, she was going to adopt Only. Going had been the young boy’s caseworker since he was 7-years old, and watched him grow but felt bad that nobody wanted to adopt him. Going says that she wanted to adopt Only before, but her home was too small and she had two teenage girls.
Only had been asking Going to be his adopted mother for some time but Going kept turning him down. Going said when she heard that he was coming back, that is when she decided that it was time to make Only a part of her family. The adoption will be finalized April 22nd.
