Paving the way for more women in the film industry, Meryl Streep has provided female screenwriters over the age of 40 with the resources needed to make their voices heard.
The screenwriters lab will be run by female filmmaker collective IRIS and New York Women in Film and Television. The program known as the “Writers Lab” will accept admissions between May 1st and June 1st and seeks to provide opportunities for women screenwriters over 40. Only 8 talented screenwriters will be chosen for this exclusive program, winners will be announced on August 1st. Mentors participating in the program include writer/director Gina Prince-Bythewood, producer Caroline Kaplan, and Kirsten Smith and Jessica Bendinger. The “Writers Lab” will be held in upstate New York.
