The Miami Dolphins have reached an extension with quarterback Ryan Tannehill. The deal is for 6 years worth $96 Million, with $45 Million guaranteed.  “We are thrilled that we were able to sign Ryan to an extension,” Dolphins vice president Mike Tannenbaum said in a statement,” per ESPN.com’s James Walker.”He is an ascending talent, a team leader and checks all of the boxes you are looking for at the position.” It does seem strange to give a QB this type of contract who has yet to lead his team into the playoffs and has a career record of 23-25; but the key word in Tannenbaum’s comments seem to be “ascending”. Other quaterbacks such as Dallas Cowboys’ Tony Romo, Atlanta Falcons’ Matt Ryan, San Francisco 49ers’ Colin Kaepernick, Cincinnati Bengals’ Andy Dalton and Chicago Bears’ Jay Cutler all have received 100 million dollar contracts over the past few seasons who all have yet to win a Super Bowl. In the NFL if you don’t have the QB, there is no chance to win. The Dolphins have officially attached themselves to Tannehill.
