Josh Smith is going going, back back, to…
Josh Smith will suit up for his 3rd team in the past 2 seasons this November, when he joins Chris Paul, Blake Griffin (and yes, DeAndre Jordan) in the Clippers quest to reach the NBA Finals. As reported by ESPN, Smith will likely sign a minimum deal with the Clippers, after spending last season in both Detroit and Houston.
He landed a big-time contract with the Pistons after 11 years in Atlanta, but Smith had trouble operating in a crowded front-court (Greg Monroe, Andre Drummond), and he quickly fell out of favor in Motor City. However, in Houston, Smith gave James Harden and Dwight Howard a desperately needed, somewhat-reliable 3rd scoring option, and it was Smith and teammate Corey Brewer that dug the Rockets out of a Game 6 deficit with their star, James Harden, on the bench.
It’s been a huge off-season for the Clippers, who also signed wing players Lance Stephenson and Paul Pierce, and managed to snag their star center, DeAndre Jordan, from the Mavericks’ grasp. Let’s see if they can disrupt what many believe will be the 1-2-3 punch in the West: Warriors, Thunder, Spurs.
