As many expected, Ty Lawson has been dealt
Ty Lawson was the most promising part of the Denver Nuggets’ post-Melo/Iverson era, but a series of run-ins with the law have the former UNC standout on the move.
Just a week after news broke that he was arrested for his second DUI of the year, Ty Lawson has been shipped to the Houston Rockets, according to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.

It’s certainly an upgrade for Houston, who has struggled with finding consistent offensive weaponry at the point guard position, alternating between spotty shooter and decision-maker Jeremy Lin, and the defensive minded Patrick Beverly over the past few seasons. Lawson averaged 15 points and just under 10 assists per game in 75 starts for a Nuggets team that didn’t make the playoffs.
In Denver, it certainly is disappointing news, but considering the Nuggets drafted Emmanuel Mudiay, widely regarded as the 2nd best point guard in this year’s draft, with their lottery 7th pick, it will certainly quell any potential controversy the Nuggets could’ve had on their hands.
