UPDATE: Bobby Shmurda‘s bail package has been denied, according to TMZ. Today, Shmurda and his legal team presented a new, meticulously packaged bail document that reportedly was 200 pages long, detailing where “every penny” was coming from. The judge denied the bail, reportedly changed the bail arrangement, and sent Bobby back behind bars. His next court date is in January.
Bobby Shmurda, who has been behind bars since December 2014 and denied bail several times, could be released from jail this week according to new details unveiled by TMZ.
ORIGINAL STORY: In 2014, the Brooklyn rapper, whose Billboard Top 10 hit “Hot N*gga” took him from selling mixtapes out of his car to an Epic Records deal, was arrested during a sting operation on weapons and drug charges along with a dozen members of his crew. Since then, Shmurda has gone through several lawyers and methods of posting an appropriate bail package, and his fairly new legal team believes they have the one that won’t get rejected in court.
According to the TMZ report, Shmurda’s family–specifically, his aunt–has been working very closely with Shmurda’s attorney Alex Spiro, and well-known bondsman Ira Judelson on putting together a “bulletproof” package, which is essentially a 200-page document detailing “the source of every single penny.” If you remember, back in January of this year, when it was first thought that Shmurda would be seeing the light of day, it was with Judelson that his family was working.
We’ll have more details on this when they’re made available. Shmurda’s trial is set to begin on February 22 of the new year.
