Outside of being known as one of the most famous professional athletes in the world, Kobe Bryant is also very cultured. This was evident during the press conference where he spoke on his impending retirement, answering questions from international reporters in Italian and Spanish fluently. Bryant’s father, Joe “Jelly Bean” Bryant had a stint playing in the NBA from 1975 to 1983. He later relocated to Europe, playing professionally for various Italian teams until the early 1990s. It is there that Kobe spent his formative years, enjoy his first love of soccer and being immersed in European culture. With basketball challenging soccer as one of the globe’s favorite sports, Kobe could quite possibly end up broadcasting over in Europe or Latin America. This is not too farfetched considering that he has shown his love of other cultures.
