The supermodel turned media mogul gave wisdom to women regarding their career and life. In an interview for Glamour’s December 2015 issue, the America’s Next Top Model founder explained what she learned after graduating from Harvard Business School in 2012 that she wished she’d known 10 years earlier.

“Leadership. I want to be a really strong leader. I look at Walt Disney, Oprah, Richard Branson, and how they lead a team, how they inspire a team, because you can’t do it by yourself. And my professor coached us to be vulnerable with our team. He said, “Show emotions. If you feel like frigging crying, cry.” That stuck. It’s about being real.”

The two-time Emmy winner and New York Times best-seller went on to encourage women to have a stash of “F.U. money”:

“My mom stayed with my dad for too long because of financial reasons. If she’d just had a little side hustle, a little of her own money, she would have left. So I encourage women to have what I call “F.U.” money.… A lot of my passion for this business comes from that.”

The former talk show host, who recently left her daytime panel talk showThe FABLife” to focus on her cosmetics line, dished on what she would tell her 25-year-old self:

“Take some time for yourself. You’re still gonna be successful if you go on that vacation. I felt I had to sacrifice, that I needed to constantly go. So I would tell her to sit the heck down! My mom also said, ‘Plan for the end at the beginning. There’s a limit to modeling; that phone is gonna stop ringing. Have a plan before it stops.’ Be like a boxer who’s like, “This is my last one—pow.”
