Harlem’s own Skizzy Mars is currently prepping to release his new album, the oxymoronically titled Alone Together, and he’s released its lead single, “Alcoholics,” so the masses can have an understanding of where he’s sonically headed.
Skizzy, 22, has been public with his influences, citing Kanye West and Kid Cudi as his proverbial Tupac and Biggie in an interview with Village Voice, and “Alcoholics” is the derivative of that, as it mixes the moody, viscous production and tone of Cudi’s best work with the introspective, emotion-laden croons of, say, 808’s Kanye–rather seamlessly.
You can listen to the song below, and get ready for Alone Together, which looks to impact at the top of the year via Atlantic Records.
