Jada Pinkett Smith took to social media this weekend to express her concern over another year of snubs of Black films and actors in regards to Oscars nominations.
In a Facebook post on Saturday [January 16, 2016], she wrote :
Her question provoked serious thought and introspection from people of color in arts and film, leaving many to wonder if the #OscarsSoWhite will not only apply to nominees, but also to attendees this year.
To follow up, Jada posted a video this morning [Monday, January 18] to talk about the power of people color and how the community needs to realize their potential when it comes to evoking change; a poignant message on a day of remembrance of Reverend Martin Luther King Jr.
We must stand in our power! We must stand in our power.
