Vince Staples‘ double-disc debut album, Summertime ’06, has slowly become essential listening for rap nerds everywhere, and his trolling of NBA players and 90’s rappers have added to his allure, be the attention negative or positive. Today he returns to the small screen to share a video for “Lift Me Up,” the first proper song on Summertime ’06, which is sparingly produced by mainly No I.D., DJ Dahi, and Clams Casino among others. In the new clip, Staples is quite literally lifted up–and flipped upside down, and slouched forward–thanks to direction by David Helman and Dustin Lane, as he lets loose with gut-checks like “Waiter still ain’t brought the chopsticks/should’ve brought the chopper.”

You can see Staples perform this, and more of the gems on his Def Jam debut at Governors Ball in June.
