The internet was relentless while speaking their mind about Stacey Dash and her awkward Oscar’s cameo on Sunday [February 28].
In true Jimmy Kimmel fashion, the popular late-night show segment where celebrities read mean tweets about themselves, the “Clueless” star posted a video of her reading the vicious tweets after host Chris Rock introduced her as the Academy’s new director of the “minority outreach program.”
The tweets were brutal, including:
“I was hoping there was a trap door on the stage and @REALStaceyDash would fall through.”
“@REALStaceyDash you sucked on the Oscars like you do on Fox News. Pointless.”
“I’m sick of your (bleep) I’m pulling up”
To which the 49-year-old replied, “That seems like a threat.”
But the actress, who came under fire for comments about BET and Black History Month, didn’t stop at the tweets, as she clapped back to haters:
“There are a lot of people that don’t agree with me, and have a lot of very mean things to say, which I will never live down and a lot of people will use against me for the rest of my life. But here’s the thing, I do what I do because I want to do it and because I believe in it, and it has nothing to do with race. And I wish you would stop saying that. Everything that I do is because I believe in it, and I believe we are all equal, OK? I don’t feel inferior nor do I feel superior you should stop feeling that way too. I’m very happy about what I did, and I’m proud of it.”
