In most important news of the day, it looks like one of Eminem’s beloved opening lines has finally been demystified.
Eminem’s “Cleanin’ Out My Closet,” off his fourth studio album The Eminem Show (2002) was an unquestionable hit, as was its hilarious ad-libbed introduction. The song was the second single off The Eminem Show, and the second to reach Billboard’s Top 10 off the album.
At the beginning of “Cleanin’ Out My Closet,” Mr. Mathers can be heard asking, “Where’s my snare? I have no snare in my headphones.” The simple yet perfect for parody remark has turned into something of an inside joke among Hip Hop heads, but did anyone actually think it was made in earnest?
The favored line may have just been cleared up by the man himself via verified Genius annotation:
I guess Eminem could still be trolling us with the new revelation, but something about this just feels right.
