Former NFL Player Terrence Cody To Serve 9 Months In Jail After Starving His Dog To Death

Former Baltimore Ravens defensive tackle Terrence Cody was sentenced 9 months in jail today after being convicted of animal cruelty. The 27-year-old was released by the franchise shortly after the news was initially made public. On top of illegally owning an alligator, Cody was convicted of 9 misdemeanors surrounding the death of his canary Mastiff Taz.

Prosecutors in the case say that the athlete neglected Taz so much that the dog did not eat for nearly a month and was living in its own filth. Canary Mastiffs normally weigh around 100 pounds, yet Taz was less than 50 pounds at the time of his death. There is no word on when Cody will begin servicing his 90 day sentence.
