By breakthrough, we mean breakthrough.

Before Acid Rap, Chance was a regional Chicago favorite with untold potential. Shortly after its release, he was touring with Eminem and Macklemore in Europe, and drawing tens-of-thousands of people to festival engagements around the world. He’s now arguably one of the biggest rappers in the world, has performed twice on SNL, and broke the iTunes record for first-week downloads with his Social Experiment band.

Did we mention he still hasn’t signed a record deal? Yeah, that too.

Next week, on May 13, he will drop his third solo project, which is being referred to as Chance 3–that may or may not be the official title–which he teased on Kanye West‘s The Life of Pablo intro, “Ultralight Beam.”
