It was announced yesterday [Thursday, May 5] that Kobe Bryant’s production company, Kobe Studios, will partner with Sports Illustrated and the Believe Entertainment Group to create a short film based on Kobe’s poem, “Dear Basketball,” that he used to announce his retirement.
The short film is expected to premiere on SI.com in the fall, along with several other mini documentaries about the creative process behind the project.
According to SI.com, the short film will be animated by Glenn Keane, who has animated such films as Tangled and The Little Mermaid.
Bryant said in a statement:
““Dear Basketball is the perfect tribute to something I’ve loved for so long. Working with Sports Illustrated on this special project is an amazing opportunity to hopefully inspire fans all over the world.”
