The reports, delivered by The Big Lead, also mention a new role for Mike Ditka, who will continue as a member of the company fulfilling some sort of at-home role, where he won’t be required to be in studio during Sunday and Monday NFL games. He will be replaced in the studio by ex-Seahawks/Colts QB Matt Hasselbeck.

Earlier this year, ESPN made another major former-player hire in all-time great defensive back Charles Woodson, whose role has not yet been clearly defined.

Details of the circumstances surrounding Carter and Lewis have yet to be revealed, and we’ll update with those once they’re made available.
