Big Names Lose Money In Death Row Records Bankruptcy Case

TMZ is reporting several big name rappers will be losing large sums of money after the current Death Row Records bankruptcy case ends. According to documents that TMZ obtained, several rappers filed for previous earnings they never received from the label.

On the list, Tupac, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and Nate Dogg will all lose the money they were promised from Death Row Records. TMZ reports Snoop will lose $2 million, Dre will lose $8 million, Nate Dogg would have lost $5 million, and Tupac would have lost $900,000. They also report Suge Knight was reportedly due $144 million from Death Row Records.

On top of the game in the 1990s, Death Row Records has struggled ever since Tupac’s final album, Makaveli 7 Day Theory, and Snoop Dogg’s second album, Tha Doggfather. After the release of those two albums, Suge Knight was sent to prison for nine years for violating his parole, which sent the label into a tailspin.

In 2006, Death Row Records filed for bankruptcy, and was bought at auction in 2009 by WIDEawake Entertainment Group for $18 million. Since then the company that owns WIDEawake went bankrupt in 2012 and was looking to sell the label to support their own company. Regardless of where the label resides now, it looks like some of its biggest names will not be getting the money they deserve.
