Lin-Manuel Miranda Will Leave ‘Hamilton’ This Summer

Yesterday [Thursday, June 3], The Hollywood Reporter reported Lin-Manuel Miranda has set a date to leave the award-winning cultural phenomenon Hamilton. July 9 is reportedly the last day Miranda will portray Alexander Hamilton in the musical.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a majority of the cast’s contracts will expire in July but they are mostly looking to stay with the production. Miranda has reportedly told his inner-circle he’s leaving the show to pursue other projects.

The remaining cast is fighting for a pay raise, on top of the original deal they signed with the show’s producers, because of the astronomical success of the show. Hamilton will soon be performed in several other major cities, so the show will only gross more money in the months to come.

Miranda is planning to turn his original Broadway show, In the Heights, into a film, and he will be starring in the upcoming film Mary Poppins Returns, alongside Emily Blunt. Undoubtedly, the tickets for Miranda’s final performance will be highly coveted, and other celebrities will flock to see his last show (rumors are they’re currently going for $10,000 per ticket).
