The body of a white male was discovered in the mouth of an 8-foot alligator in Lakeland, Florida on Tuesday [June 7] after Sgt. Gary Gross responded to the scene at Lake Hunter.

According to NBC News, someone called 911 and reported the vicious site to authorities.

Once they arrived, Sgt. Gross recovered a man who had been dead for a few days, according to autopsy reports. It is unclear whether or not the man died from an actual alligator attack or unrelated causes, but the man was missing an arm and a leg.

Florida authorities said there hasn’t been any missing persons reports in the area. They’ve captured the alligator and will examine its stomach for body parts.
