Iggy Azalea is going back Down Under to Australia to be judge on talent show X-Factor.
Fresh off her recent live performance on Good Morning America, the Australian rapstress announced she will be joining the X-Factor panel, replacing fellow Australian artist Dannii Minogue.
She said in an interview with News.com.au: “I really didn’t picture myself being a judge on any kind of television show but I think that actually this could be a good fit for me, so I said yes.” Iggy also cites her family being a factor in her decision. “Initially I didn’t know but then I thought it would be good to come back to Australia and have an opportunity to spend some time there and obviously to see my family, who live in Sydney. So I think it will be a good situation for multiple reasons. I’m really excited and I don’t really know what to expect.”
Azalea is gearing up to release her second album Digital Distortion and she’s self-admittedly feeling the pressure of the sophomore curse. In recent years the rapper has been under much criticism from the Hip Hop community, but she’s never shied away from defending herself. In a string of tweets back in 2014, she sayid: “I honestly don’t really mind if I’m described as rap or pop. My passion is purely making music and entertaining” and “it’s definitely funny seeing ppl get so emotional over it all. What does it matter? music is music and many enjoy mine, no need to feel upset.”
Azalea says, “This will definitely be the longest I’ve been to Australia in probably 10 years. It has been a long time.” Who will be accompanying her on the X-Factor panel is yet to be revealed.
