Mary J. Blige recently told The Hollywood Reporter she’s collaborated with none other than Kanye West on her forthcoming album.
Obviously excited about the new music, the R&B legend is keeping mum on the name of the anticipated track.
I don’t want to give up the name of the song yet, but the album is mostly complete,” Mary J said. “But I absolutely got a chance to work with the great Kanye West. And the song is crazy—I can’t wait for people to hear it.
The Hip Hop community first caught wind about the Blige-West collabo when Blige’s A&R, Eddie Fourcell, visited Arbiters of A&R and mentioned a potential Kanye West feature. Other artists that are expected on the LP are Hit-Boy, DJ Camper, B.A.M. and Jazmine Sullivan.
Although further details of the song are tightly under wraps, Blige described to us what it would sound like, teasing that everyone will “flip” when they hear it.
The flavor of the track starts off with piano keys. It’s very dramatic in the beginning and it goes into a loud horn. That is, like an old sample horn. And then this gigantic beat kicks in and I sing. He rhymes after my two verses. It’s incredible. He kills it.
Mary and Kanye? Nothing sounds better.
