Chile Turns Up After Copa America Final Win Over Argentina

Yesterday [Sunday, June 27] Chile beat perennial favorites Argentina in the Copa America final over at Met Life stadium. The game went to penalty kicks, and Chile won after Lionel Messi missed his penalty shot at the beginning of the shootout.

Obviously, Chile was ecstatic about their win over their huge rivals, and their fans back in Chile were going crazy. TMZ  has posted footage of Chilean fans cheering in the capital, Santiago, and starting a big fire to celebrate the win (insert “it was lit” jokes here).

Soccer fans are known for getting hyped during games, sometimes with flares, but fire is taking it a step further. Hopefully they kept the fire under control, and they were able to celebrate without any injuries.

Now the attention switches to the 2016 Euros, with the hosts France still in the tournament, and looking to win on their home soil. They’ll have stiff competition however, with Germany, Spain, England, Portugal, and Belgium still in the tournament. Spain plays Italy later today at 12pm EST on ESPN2, and England takes on the tournament’s cinderella story, Iceland, at 3pm EST on ESPN 2.
