Another deal looks to be done on this busy first day of free-agency. According to ESPN’s Chris Broussard, the New York Knicks have signed a deal with Joakim Noah for 4 years, worth $72 million dollars (about $18 million per year).
This report only confirms the rumors that were swirling earlier this week, that the Knicks were the favorites to land the ex-Bulls player, who has close ties to both Derrick Rose and Carmelo Anthony. This deal also means New York is basically out of the Kevin Durant race (if they were ever in it).
Now the Knicks will turn their attention to a shooting guard, with the estimated $14.5 million dollars they have left in cap space. Courtney Lee, Eric Gordon and Evan Turner are all reportedly on the Knicks’ wishlist, so we will see what Phil Jackson can come up with next.
Hassan Whiteside has already agreed to a max deal with Miami, and DeMar DeRozaen has elected to resign with the Raptors, but still no word on the other big free agents.
