The triple threat will be celebrated for 10 years of his creative contributions to music and his other ventures like film and TV. This award is right on time, because it’s the anniversary of JT’s multi-platinum album FutureSex/Love Sounds that birthed successful hits like “SexyBack” and “WhatGoesAround.”

Timberlake was recently under fire for tweets in response to Jesse Williams‘ Humanitarian Award speech at the BET Awards, with a user attacking him saying, “stop appropriating our music and culture.” The singer, who appeared to be merely agreeing with what the speech was about and inspired by it, apologized soon after for being “misunderstood.”

In 2016, JT’s talent and influence on music and pop culture cannot be denied. He’s successfully crossed over into film, starring in movies such as Friends With Benefits, The Social Network, and up and coming film Trolls. The singer/actor currently has 22 Nickelodeon surfboard trophies under his belt.

The Teen Choice Award ceremony will air live on July 31 on FOX.
