Just when everybody thought there was no hope of a reconciliation in sight, earlier this week it finally happened. Ace Of Diamonds strip club in LA was packed and two of the people in attendance were no strangers to the Hip Hop game or most certainly each other. Those two people were The Game and 50 Cent. Now, upon first hearing this one might jump to the conclusion that nothing but negativity ensued. If one was to go off of the turbulent past between the two they would have good reason to think so, but it was actually quite the opposite.
Back when Game was kicked out of G-Unit by the crew’s head honcho nobody thought the two would ever be able be in the same room without drama popping off. This wasn’t just a war of words on wax, there were people that were shot because of the beef between the two. Game single-handedly went on a mission to dismantle G-Unit as a record label and as a crew. The pinnacle being his scathing diss track “300 Bars” where Game goes in over various classic hip hop beats for 15 minutes doing his best to lyrically dismantle the unit. His shots were not taken lightly and 50 and G-Unit traded disses back with the Compton, Ca emcee over a variety of tracks. In the end, Game went on to do his own thing, staying relevant with a successful solo career and G-Unit, while maintaining success, was never really the same as a crew.
After some time passed, the fans seemed to miss the on record chemistry between the two hip hop heavyweights who crafted such hit records as “How We Do” and “Hate It Or Love It”, but there was no hope in sight for a reconciliation between the two. Both would continue to discredit ad disrespect each other in interviews and even when the disrespect seemed to come to a halt the answer to the question “Would you ever consider working with him again?” was answered with a firm no from 50, and Game would flip flop between entertaining the idea and dismissing it.
Fast forward to this past Monday night [August 1], both artists are in the same club walking towards each other and just like that it happens. They dap it up and exchange what appears to be some kind words before keeping it moving. Later, Game hops on the mic to let the crowd know that all of the problems between himself and 50 are in the past and that they no longer hold the same animosity that they once did towards each other. He states that the beef is 12 years old and done with.
This had the social media world going crazy, fans of both of the artists were immediately asking when they would be getting a reunion collaboration between the two and while nothing has been set in stone yet all hope is definitely not lost. Game was once viewed as a bipolar rapper who couldn’t make up his mind whether or not he wanted to beef with 50 or make peace, but over the years he has shown an extreme amount of growth artistically and as a man in general. The first signs that he was changing his ways was when a picture of him and G-Unit rapper Lloyd Banks popped up online standing together in a night club, something fans of either artist would never have thought they would see again. These were the early stages of a new Game.
Nowadays the same rapper who was at one time on a mission to destroy his foes on record and in real life can now be seen helping to organize peace rally’s and fighting against the corruption of the police force. If by some chance this recent reconciliation leads to a collaboration between Game and 50, fans should know that they aren’t going to get another “How We Do” or “Hate It Or Love It”. Both artists are in completely different spaces now in their careers and as men, the energy as well as the climate of the hip hop game are much different now then when they first connected, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t potential for some dope music between the two. It’s too early to set anything in stone quite yet but be assured, the steps to getting another Game and 50 record have at least been put in motion. For now fans can only keep their fingers crossed and hope for the positivity between the two to continue and hopefully turn into something much greater for Hip Hop as a whole.
