Vic Mensa Calls For Unification In New Essay

The integrity of Vic Mensa has never taken a backseat to what he feels needs to be said; we’ve known him to be outspoken since his earlier days of releasing music. His latest body of work There’s Alot Going On, just may display his awareness the best. Behind a track like “16 Shots,” it’s difficult to question whether or not this guy cares, because it’s obvious that he does. Now with the presidential situation shifting gears, he offers more insight on what he feels—by putting his thoughts together in an essay.

I had to remind myself that this wasn’t my election to win or lose,” Mensa wrote. “Then, when I woke up in the morning, I realized that this had to happen because we’ve been pacified by having Barack [Obama] in office. That pacification would have only continued by having Hillary elected.”

As he sat in an Atlanta studio with The-Dream, he caught his emotions and let them sink in. He had to collect his thoughts and figure out what’s next for him and us, as a nation. That next step is unification.

“We need to unify and decide what it is that we really believe in — that’s what we need to fight for. We can’t just fight against injustice. We gotta fight for justice,” Mensa said, finishing off his essay.
