Congratulations are in order!
Social media’s “Couple Goals” Jhene Aiko and Big Sean can now officially move forward in their relationship with no interruptions. As of October 3rd 2017 Jhene Aiko and Dot Da Genius have finalized their divorce. The two married in 2015 and after only 11 months Jhene decided to call it quits. The songstress filed for divorce in August of 2016, stating that the couple “had irreconcilable differences.” There have been many rumors insinuating the reason for the two’s split. Some speculated that Jhene cheated on Dot Da Genius with now boyfriend Big Sean, after seeing the two lock lips onstage at Power 106’s Powerhouse concert last year. Another rumor report was that Dot was abusive in the relationship.
Jhene denied the cheating accusations by tweeting “Never let a man disrespect u in any way… I only cheated myself.”
She proceeded to tweet: “So glad to be free from all the drugs, depression, and confrontation.”
Dot Da Genius also took to his Instagram to clear up any accusations of him harming Aiko. He stated “In light of public threats, false allegations and attempts to slander my name and character, I am compelled to speak up.”
He continued:
Because my nature is peaceful, I’ve been silent out of respect for all involved, and to maintain my privacy. However, I believe the truth must be heard, which is that I’ve never been violent or abusive towards any woman in my life. Such behavior is abhorrent to me and far from how I conduct myself. Moving forward, I will continue to focus on my family, friends and music, and soon enough the entire truth shall come to light.
Outside of the social media back and forth the two were able to reach a financial settlement and also because the marriage was short lived and there were no kids involved they were able to avoid a messy divorce. Glad to see they have happily moved on and we wish them both the best!
