It has been reported that Mychael Knight, season 3 contestant of Project Runway, has passed away. He was only 39 years old.
Mychael Knight was born in Nuremburg, Germany but was raised in Atlanta, Georgia. He received his degree in Apparel Design and Merchandising from Georgia Southern University. He interned at Wilbourn Executives and then auditioned for Project Runway, not once but twice. He was rejected the first time in 2005 but made it on to season 3 in 2006.
Although he didn’t win Project Runway, he instantly became a fan favorite and received the Fan Favorite Award. He then went on to launch his own clothing line, Mychael Knight and was on BET’s Rip the Runway. He reappeared two more times on Project Runway for their All-Star Challenges in 2009 and 2013.
A family friend said that he was surrounded by family and friends at the time of his death yesteray morning. There has been no confirmation on a cause of death.
