Just one week after he issued a powerful statement on social media, encouraging victims of sexual assault to speak out about their accounts, British-Nigerian singer Seal is now under criminal investigation by L.A. officials for sexual battery. The L.A. County Sheriff’s Dept has confirmed a report has been filed against the famed singer on Saturday (Jan. 13).
Formerly his neighbor, actress Tracey Birdsall told TMZ she and the “Kiss From A Rose” singer developed a close friendship during the residency in fall of 2016, which garnered the comfort of Birdsall entering his home occasionally. According to the accuser, she once lent Seal a salad spinner and it was in the event she went back to his home to retrieve the item, that he allegedly “lunged” at her under the attempt to kiss her.
Birdsall claims she howled at the singer, “What are you doing?!,” and he responded with “I’m kissing you!”
She goes on to state the class act began to demean her attire, which was a tank top and shorts (possibly booty shorts), claiming it was suggestive towards an intimate approach and he went on to grab her breasts, she immediately demanded him to stop.
Apparently, she did not immediately vacate his household. The actress claims Seal invited her to have a seat on his couch, roasted her outfit, again, and groped her, again. She left he household shortly after his second attempt and states she has not been in contact with the singer ever since.
Birdsall made the decision to contact authorities about the alleged insistence with the singer when she borne witness to his commentary on social media regarding Oprah Winfrey and Harvey Weinstein, where he encourages women who fit the #MeToo narrative to share their experiences with sexual misconduct.
The soul singer has since denied the allegations. A representative for Seal states, “Seal vehemently denies the recent allegations made against him by a former neighbor for alleged misconduct more than a year ago. He intends to vigorously defend himself against these false allegations.”
