From Behind-the-Scenes to Center Stage: Saint Cassius

You may have not heard of Saint Cassius yet. But there’s a good chance you’ve heard music that he has contributed to. In fact, his contributions helped Bruno Mars earn a Grammy for his break out single, “Just The Way You Are.”

Born in the Bronx, New York and subsequently adopted by Atlanta, Georgia, the behind-the-scenes strings-puller is ready to bring his talents to center stage.

Inspired by the lyrics of Nas, the business savvy of  Jay-Z, and the artistry of Andre 3000Cassius decided to take control of his musical destiny. In 2013, he launched Vinyl Crown. The independent publishing and recording company is the definition of a ground-up organization.

Vinyl Crown is also the label home of producer Darius Barnes. Better known as Phonix, he is no stranger to industry, providing sounds for Fabolous‘ “We Good” and J.Cole‘s 2014 classic, “No Role Modelz.”

Cassius describes himself as an an artist who embodies the middle ground between northern and southern Hip-Hop. Seamlessly blending lyrics with passion filled cadences.

For this reason, he can also be considered as a living tale of two cities. He aims to use music to shed light on issues which impact urban America.

Last year, with the help of his Vinyl Crown family, he released “Take a Knee.” Penned like an open letter to the Black community in support of Colin Kaepernick‘s protest, the song examines the symbolism of taking a knee. The song further suggest that true victory originates in love and finding your soulmate.

This year, Cassius is taking his music full scale. He recently released his debut album, Analog. As you watch the album trailer, sounds of the piano invite you on a soulful journey. It is his purest intention to inspire you.

DJ Toomp and JF Clay provide production which serves this album up like good Atlanta soul food.
