Taylor Swift stepped outside the world of pop music and delivered a message on Instagram declaring her support for Democratic candidate Phil Bredesen over Republican Marsha Blackburn for Senate. The post expressed how she has not always stated her political views but feels that it is time for that to change, especially with the stance Blackburn has politically.
“I cannot vote for someone who will not be willing to fight for dignity for ALL Americans, no matter their skin color, gender or who they love,” Taylor wrote regarding Blackburn.
“She voted against equal pay for women. She voted against the Reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act, which attempts to protect women from domestic violence, stalking, and date rape. She believes businesses have a right to refuse service to gay couples. She also believes they should not have the right to marry. These are not MY Tennessee values. I will be voting for Phil Bredesen for Senate and Jim Cooper for House of Representatives,” Swift shared with her fans.
Taylor Swift turned off her comments on the post now allowing for an open forum and the opportunity for hate and distasteful rhetoric, however, nothing stops Donald Trump. When the question was asked about his feelings toward Swift’s statements, Trump steps back into his old pop culture shoes. “Let’s say that I like Taylor’s music about 25% less now, OK?” he shared.
We are sure that Taylor Swift does not care nor will her success suffer. Trump gon’ Trump. Check out his latest statements below.
